My son was a little over 3 when I bought him this fire engine. He’s fascinated by firemen and fire trucks, and I figured he’d really like this toy. It was a hit initially. He had a tough time pedaling it, so he sat in it and played with it regularly for the first week or two. I had hoped at as got got older and bigger he’d have an easier time but it’s been a few months and not so much yet. I should mention that my son is very small for his age — 36″ and only about 29 lbs. He does ride a tricycle competently, but this vehicle is a little too heavy at this point and the pedaling motion is a little awkward for him.. He still loves it — probably one of his favorite possessions. Hopefully in another few months he’ll be able to pedal it around more. The truck itself is gorgeous and bomb proof. This is definitely not a Fisher Price object. It’s beefy with lots of sharp edges, which is fine — plenty of children survived the 50’s/60’s when these cars were the rage. Yea, it takes some time to put together, but as long as you’re comfortable handling tools and a little patient you’ll be fine. I saw another reviewer suggest they sell these more preassemebled — I’d rather keep the price low and deliver it as it is now. Frankly, you could probably drop it buy a hoppy shop or even a local bike shop and they’d handle assembly for a reasonable price.Ultimately, I think this will be one of those toys that sticks around our house forever and hopefully gets passed down to our grandchildren one day.

I was so happy to find this all metal truck with ladders and bell. The plastics are so tawdry. I got one very much like this one for my son when he was three, He headed right for in on Christmas morning, exclaiming, “Oh, my fire truck!” So when I saw this I had to get it for my granddaughters, ages 2 and4. When I got it for my son I put it together myself Christmas Eve night. (My husband was NOT handy.) This time I got my son-in-law to do the assembling. He loved it. Good thing he assembled it before Christmas! One of the tires was defective! Kudos to Amazon. They sent another truck in two days, we took a good wheel and tire from it and put it on our truck and put the damaged one in the new box. UPS will pick it up tomorrow, So five stars on this sturdy little truck and five stars for Amazon customer service. Yea!

I purchased both the Firetruck and the Police Car for my 2 year old and 5 year old for Christmas last year. I waited to review to give it a fair review. I was not able to assemble it it myself but my husband assembled it in no time. Once assembled they lit up the room. These are precious items! The look great and the colors are so vibrant. I love the way they look. I really liked the fact that the kids could pedal them and I wouldn’t have to deal with charging them as needed. I lost the cable to one of the power wheels and the other power wheel, the battery stopped charging. This alone sold me on getting them.My 5 year old was able to ride it easy! He loved them! He liked going around the kitchen ringing the bell! It’s now a tight squeeze for him to get in and out of the cars. My two year old, now 3 year old is still not able to reach the petals. By the time he reached the petals he will not fit into them, as he’s on the larger size. The cons are, once the cars were assembled the tires smelled really bad! I had to leave them outside for weeks before the smell went away. That meant they had to sit outside for weeks and these cars are not meant to be outdoors. Also the ladder does not secure onto the fire truck to keep the small children from getting them. I just removed the ladders as my 1 year old kept pulling them out and I was worried she’d get hurt. My biggest issue was when one of the metals for the pedals completely came off. This is metal and it was just sticking out and I was so worried that my kids would get hurt, so I had to retire it.These are beautiful pieces to adorn your Christmas Tree or Nursery Room. The kids rode them and got great use out of it during the summer but the Firetruck did not last even a year and that is why I gave it 3 stars.

This car wasn’t hard to put together, just time consuming. It looks great and my grandson loves it. My only complaint is the ladders will not stay on and there’s nothing to secure them. We just took them off for him to play in the car. Also, the bell gets stuck and won’t ring consecutively. We were able to work with it some but it’s a design flaw. Everything else is great for the money! I posted an image of our not quite 2 year old grandson in his car. As soon as he opened his other presents he began loading them up in the back of the car. Too cute!

The good: Sturdy, all metal construction, nicely painted. The bad: many predrilled holes don’t line up, steering shaft misaligned, had to redrill several holes, poor directions. The outcome: everything finally worked, but assembly took nearly six hours.
